British alternative rock band Placebo will perform in Sofia on September 13 2010 at the Winter Palace, with the concert to be followed for an admission-free after party at local club Stroeja, a media statement said.
The concert, starting at 8pm, is part of Placebo's 2010 European summer tour, promoting the band's latest studio album - its sixth - titled Battle for the Sun.
Tickets for the concert are available at Ticketstream.bg, eventim and at the ticket office of the National Palace of Culture, NDK, is central Sofia.
Tickets cost 50 leva, rising to 60 leva on the day of the concert. The statement said that concert-goers younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult, and children younger than seven will be admitted free of charge but also must be accompanied by an adult.
The current line-up of Placebo is Brian Molko, Stefan Olsdal and Steve Forrest.
Battle for the Sun was released on June 8 2009.
Recorded over three months at Metal Works Studios in Toronto with producer David Bottrill and mixed in London by My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins and Nine Inch Nails supremo Alan Moulder, Battle for the Sun is a startling, alive, vital and boundary-vaulting Placebo record, according to the band's website.
It is, according to Molko, "not hard rock and it’s not pop, it’s probably hard pop. I think we’ve made a record which is almost the flipside of ‘Meds’. We’ve made a record about choosing life, about choosing to live, about stepping out of the darkness and into the light. Not necessarily turning your back on the darkness because it’s there, it’s essential; it’s a part of who you are, but more about the choice of standing in the sunlight instead."
